Spain
Spain is group D's highest ranked
team in the FIFA world ratings in 4th place and with a team
full of stars. After an early wobble in their qualifying matches Spain
came roaring back to seal their place in the finals with an emphatic
3-0 home victory over their fellow group D contenders Sweden.
Luis AragonΓ©s team melds a great combination
of youth and experience in a defense that has Spain stalwart Carlos
Puyol pulling the strings and providing the cover for young stars Sergio
Ramos and Joan Capdevila to rampage down the wings.
Midfield is just
as star studded with the likes of Arsenal's Cesc Fabergas, Barcelona's
Iniesta and Xavi and Valancia's Silva and JoaquΓn providing a
counter attacking threat that any team in the competition will ignore
at their own peril.
And of course, there is the small matter of a certain
Fernando Torres to consider, likely to be deployed as a lone striker
the Liverpool star has netted 24 goals in the Premier League in his
debut season and looks to carry that form into the Euro Championships.
